SUNDAY 26 JULY 2020 saw our community come together for a Covid-19 Commemorative Planting Day, to honour essential workers, those who died and those who suffered during the global pandemic. 198 eco sourced Kahikatea trees were planted with flags representing each of the 198 nations of the world. Chosen for their historic and symbolic value of strength, unity and power, the roots of Te Uru Kahikatea intertwine and strengthen one another as they grow. Attended by some of the medical centre staff, we were blessed with beautiful weather and planting concluded with a free sausage sizzle provided by Community groups. Huge thanks to all those wonderful people & groups within our community who organised this day. Pictured: staff members Carolyn, Katrina and Bev.
